By Terry Sun Designer Palette - Review & Swatches

Summer 2018 releases have been so thrilling for me. The colors are so vibrant and eye catching. By Terry really does great palettes off late and most of them are limited edition unfortunately. They sell out really fast too. So i was not about to let the boat sail away.

Bu Terry came out with 2 Sun Designer palettes this summer and i got mine in no.5 Hippy Chic. The colors at first threw me off as they might be to vibrant and bright for me (a.k.a. Loud). But you really need only a tap of the blush and it would be enough. The colora can be sheered out for a subtle wash of color.

Me being me, i gravitate more towards the left side of the palette for a more subtle daily look. Buy really, the colors on the right really are beautiful when used sparingly.

A thing i like about this palette is that it makes mixing and blending colors easy. I could easily custom blend my own blush color. Now thats really worth the money. It retails for RM299 and you can get it at Kens Apothecary or Sephora(if its not sold out already)

Here are some swatches of the palette which i managed to snap pics of. Sorry for the lighting as the pictures were taken indoors.

ARTISTRY Signature Color - Eye Shadow Quad in SPICE BRONZE

Today is THE day that i get to test my new eye shadow quad. I've been putting it off for some time as i wasn't feeling up to testing it as i usually prefer a simple look with just mascara. If i was up for a bit more, eyeliner was the thing i reach for. That's pretty much it.

But today..i just felt like doing a first impressions. ARTISTRY is a brand that not many are familiar with among my friends but is the official makeup used in miss universe if i'm not mistaken. They have exceptional makeup items and they have an extensive choice of foundation shades to suit many skin tones. I'm usually drawn towards foundation and base products but this time around.. surprise surprise!! some color in my life.

Below are some pictures of this lovely quad. So sorry that I took photos after swatching and using the eye shadows..(nampak sangat tak sabar-sabar).

PIGMENTATION:
From the swatches above, you can see just how pigmented the colors are. But in total honesty, at first swatch. I was pretty let down, as the color payoff didnt exactly blow me away. I dilly dallied for sometime being pretty unhappy with my purchase. Little did I know that the top layer was just a little on the not so pigmented side. After i got through the top layer, oh my my...buttery soft and super pigmented. The swatches above really shows how lovely the colors are. The lightest shade which happens to be the largest pan in the bunch is a wonderful highlight for the inner corners of the eyes. And guess what?? I found another use for it. I was thinking..this pan is huge. what else could i use this color for? So i took out my trusty fan brush and used the lightest shade as i would my typical face highlighter.

A bonus feature of this quad is how finely milled the shimmers are. It's almost as if it melts into the skin leaving no sight of chunky glitter. It truly is well made.

PACKAGING:
As for the packaging..I'm on the fence about it. I love the fact that I could save some money on packaging (meaning the case)..But I'm also not happy that i have to purchase it separately. Wouldn't it be simpler if it came conveniently together? But then again, If your the type to save on packaging, this would suit you well as you can store the eye shadow quad in its plastic safety cover and in the box...purchase just one case and alternate refills when ever you like. It's super travel friendly too as you can choose the refill quad you prefer to bring along. I myself have yet to purchase the case..hence the naked refill you see up there in my pictures. But looks like I'm going to have to purchase it pretty darn soon..as I'm already eyeing another quad ..ohhhhss ahhhhsss.

Down there are two pictures of me with Spice Bronze on my lids and the highlight color on my cheeks and under my brows. The picture doesn't do much justice to it.. as it is not an IN YOUR FACE type of highlight which let me tell you..is just perfect for me. I like me some subtle highlight as I have combination oily skin and sometimes too much highlight can make me look borderline disco ball. Just to note, I love this subtle smoky look and its not over the top. In fact its pretty wearable for daytime. I love how the colors work in harmony with each other. *Just a note: I'm no makeup guru and I don't pretend to be one. I like my makeup simple and sweet. not too glam or over the top. But for those who do, you can definitely create a glammed up look with this quad. You do you gal!

This quad is sold through Amway distributors a.k.a ME :) haha. *do contact me for further information. The price for this lovely quad is RM152.50 which is reasonable to me... with crazy prices of makeup nowadays. This is in no way a sponsored review. I bought the quad with my own money and this is my true and honest opinion. (which no money can buy).

Guerlain Rose Aux Joues/ Tender Blush in 01 Morning Rose

Recently, i went shopping for face cream at Isetan The Gardens with hubby dearest. Bought a few items and since it was members day, i received quite a few goodies for free and an extra early bird special. What did i get? A full sized guerlain tender blush! It actually costs RM178 as told by the wonderful SA Su. I was jumping for joy. Lets get into the product details.

The blush comes in a black box with gold writings. The actual blush comes with a black velvet pouch as most high-end makeup. I find no particular use for this velvet pouch but i guess it does protect the blush compact from scratches. One thing i dislike is that dust tends to gather on the pouch.

The compact has a very good weight to it. Doesnt feel like cheap plastic and the closure is magnetic. Love this feature because i dont have to fiddle with buttons. My laura mercier concealer compact button broke on me..now its ajar..and easily dries up.

The blush itself contains a good amount of product. Its 6.5g as compared to Chanel joues contraste blush wich is only 4g. But the down side of it is that this blush tends to have quite a bit of fall out..you could say it kicks up a bit of dust/powder and this would mean wasting product.

I have this in 01 morning rose. Its the lightest shade available. Its a lovely color for pale or fair skinned ladies. Im not too sure if it will show up on olive, medium or darker skin tones.

As you can see, its a true pink. Not too warm or too blue toned pink. There is a scent to it as all guerlain makeup does. But the scent is not as flowery strong as the rose scent in chanel blushers. It has no shimmer in it, but it has somewhat of a sheen to it..a very subtle sheen which imparts an ever so soft glow to the cheeks.

From top to bottom:
  • Bobbi Brown 1 Pink Sugar
  • Bobbi Brown Pale Pink
  • Bobbi Brown 41 Pretty Pink
  • Chanel Joues Contraste 250 Crescendo
  • Chanel Joues Contraste 69 Fleur De Lotus
  • Chanel Joues Contraste 86 Discretion
  • Guerlain Tender Blush 01 Morning Rose
As you can see from the swatches, its similar to chanel blush in 86 discretion but the chanel blush has warmer tones and is slightly lighter. One thing i noticed is that the Chanel blushers have a smooth fine buttery texture to it and a little goes a long way and have more pigments. But its also a good thing with this blush because you can layer it and not worry looking like a clown.

Final verdict, Guerlain tender blush in morning rose is a welcome addition to my blush collection as i love light pinks. Furthermore, its free. Now tell me..who doesnt like a free guerlain blush. Note that this is my honest opinion and i am not sponsored in any way.

You csn purchase this blush at all Guerlain counters in Malaysia. I got mine at Isetan The Gardens.
