Artistry Youth Xtend Ultra Lifting Eye Serum Concentrate

Lets talk about eye serum today. I have a favourite eye serum and currently, I'm on my third bottle. Says much now doesn't it.

So lets have a look now shall we? This lifting eye serum concentrate (lets just call it an eye serum...we all know that's one heck of a long name) comes in  a maroon and gold bottle. Pretty classy looking packaging. Its of a thick quality and sturdy plastic with a release button type pipette which boasts elegance and luxury. Something that would look pretty on the dressing table.
Here are the ingredients as listed on the box. Now that's a whole load of ingredients. Loads of good stuff. There's acerola, oat, cucumber, evening primrose oil, olive oil, rosemary just to name a few. Now...I'm no scientist but i wish they didnt have to add parabens and all that naughty stuff as well.

As you can see, it has a pipette. Luckily its not one that can get messy unlike some. In fact i had trouble with boscia tsubaki beauty oil. The top would not open and i had to cut the top off with a scissors. What on earth? Well this i will share further with you in another post. But so far, 3 bottles of this eye serum later, no problems with the packaging except for the fact that i can't get the last drops of it too easily.

From the pictures above you can see that this eye serum is creamy white in color and at certain lightings you can see it has the finest shimmer-like substance. It's not visible on the skin, but somehow it instantly brightens the eye area. Making the eye appear well rested, lifted and brighter.

Texture-wise, the eye serum is slightly runny and light. Upon application, it is immediately absorbed with no residue. Its neither sticky nor takcy just moist and smooth. Throughout my experience using this, i did not experience any irritation, redness, breakouts or milia. As for wearing it under makeup, since its a light serum, my eye makeup such as eye shadow and concealer did not melt off or creased more than usual, in fact the smoothness makes everything look polished. In fact my eye area looks pretty good if i may say so myself.

I must add that after my first bottle, i already see a much lifted eye area, so far, no saggy skin or eyebags. The skin on my eye area no longer feels dry or taut. In all honesty, what i see most is a reduction in crows feet.  If i didnt put this serum on for a day..my day just would'nt feel right.

Verdict: its a real winner for me. Its part of my daily routine now. Until a better one comes along..this is a keeper.

CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation SPF25/PA++

Good morning lovelies! Rise and shine.. what a lovely day to review a new Chanel foundation, The latest addition to the Les Beiges family. The ever so famous Les Beiges yearly collections are something to keep an eye out for. Usually the collection consists of lip gloss, some les beiges limited addition specialty powders and some color sticks for cheeks and nail polish. This year, they came out with a foundation. Something that is similar to their famous les beiges fluid, but with more coverage and wider color range. But still not wide enough i think.

Here is a sample of the Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation. I was given the shade No.20 as that was the only sample color available in Malaysia as i was told by the SA. Even though the samples only come in no.20, you can go in stores to get youself color matched as i was informed by the lovely SA Miko that the range comes in 9 different colors!

The ingredients on the back of the sample sachet is pretty extensive. Mind you, the foundation has SPF25 which is really never enough in this hot humid Malaysian weather. You should always put on a separate sunscreen beforehand. I forgot to mention, I got an email from Chanel Malaysia to redeem my sample kit from the nearest Chanel counter and my favourite counter happens to be at Chanel stand alone store at Sunway Pyramid. I have always found the service there to be tip top and the
SA there namely Miko, Genie and Gabby are always happy to entertain even with my kids running around here and there.

This a tiny squeeze of the sachet and the left side is more of a swatch lightly blended out. As you can see, no.20 Les Beiges healthy Glow foundation comes off slightly pink undertoned. The coverage is pretty opaque but is not considered full coverage to me. I think its more of a light to medium coverage at best.

From top to bottom; 1)Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet B10, 2) Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation No.20, 3) Chanel CC cream SPF30 B20, 4) Chanel Vitalumiere Hydra Moist Radiance Emulsion Compact SPF15/PA++ 20 beige

My Experience:
I put on the foundation at 10.00am with fingers. Upon application, my skin felt smooth and surprisingly my skin felt firm. It didn't feel heavy even though the foundation had a creamy texture leaning on the thicker side. Off the bat...color match was ok i guess. i would have loved for a yellow undertone but unfortunately this foundation in no.20 comes off slightly pink under toned. One thing i must say is that it does nothing for my pores. I suggest you use a pore filler for those who have larger pores. As for dry flaky bits on my nose (acne clearing up)..what can i say..it remained flaky looking. it didn't mask it or enhance it, which was a good thing. Upon application, i set it with my by Terry Hyaluronic Hydra powder in patting motions. I didnt put on a primer but i did use my Shiseido sunscreen.

3.00pm update (5 hours in):
There was a little shine on my forehead, tip of my nose and chin as well as my cheek area...more like a glow at this stage. Nothing too drastic. My face didn't feel oily to the touch. As for the coverage, everything remained the same and no caking up of the foundation on my trouble spots like around my nose. There were no additional creasing around my eye area or smile lines, but it did bunch up a little on areas where my glasses sit on the bridge of my nose. Blush was still there and didnt become patchy.

Verdict:
At the end of the day not much difference. Looks like a good skin day and not caked up foundation. So far, I'm loving the texture of my skin with this foundation on. Would love to purchase a full size bottle soon. If you're wondering, I have combination oily skin with some dryness and this foundation faired pretty well. All in all, I'm a happy camper ;)

*Currently available at all Chanel counters and stores. Price: RM200. Pretty reasonable as i see my samples lasting me awhile.

Get to know my skin type.

Ok. Now my 33rd birthday is looming in on me *gasps*. In just 2 months i will hit a number that cannot be flipped around or reversed. Haha. Its like the number 11 (if you get what i mean)

Over the years, my skin has gone through quite a few stages. In my schooling years, i had really bad acne on my forehead and cheeks. I had super oily skin and to top it off i also had huge pores. (Well i still do).

During my university years i started experimenting with skincare..some were down right scary experiences. But i somehow did something right (or wrong)for my skin to improve and i hardly had any acne except for occasional breakouts. Lets leave that part of my skin journey for another day.

Now, as of 2016..i find myself battling with hormonal acne, occasional dry skin to my surprise and an oily T-zone. Why..oh why is it so complicated? Ok lets uncomplicate things (is that even a word?) and list things down.

My skin profile:

  • Asian complexion
  • Fair/light
  • Oily T-zone
  • Large pores around nose and cheeks
  • Skin can be dry at times
  • Acne prone and whiteheads
  • Hormonal acne along jaw-line and neck(it used to be my back which was hit worse during my schooling years)
So there you have it... my skin woes laid out before you. My skin has gotten better and i'll let you in on it once i get this blog rollin. Till another post my lovelies.

The start of it all.

Assalamualaikum and hello to you..yes you. The one reading this. Ni kiranya first time buat blog pasal makeup. Before this berjinak2 dgn blog masakan, but my passion has always been about makeup.

Mula2 pening jugak nak fikirkan nama tuk blog ni. Yang pasti, title blog ni mesti ada something to do about makeup. Tu yang tiba2 terlintas difikiran lagu Meghan Trainor (hope i spelled it right) "all about that bass". So immediately i thought of foundation. I love foundation. If i could hoard a single category of makeup...pasti pilih foundation. Sebabnya, a good foundation is a good base for other makeup like blush, powder and what not. Foundation tu kira macam base la. Thats why nama blog ni "all about that base".

Lagi satu..masa fikir2 nak write this blog, confused kejap nak tulis dalam bahasa malaysia atau english. I would have loved to blog in english..but i thought why not have the best of both. Jangan kecam saya ok. Haha.

In my blog, awal2 saya nak state that i love high-end makeup. But lately, i have been loving some pretty good drugstore/pharmacy makeup brands. So. My blog will feature a mix of both but leaning more towards high-end products.

Anyways, welcome to my blog and stay tuned for more reviews, skincare updates to come.

Regards,
Chepah
